Williams County Jail is an adult medium-security correctional facility in Williston City, Williams County, North Dakota. The facility was started in 1994 with a capacity of 120 inmates under the care of 14 correctional officers. It serves North Dakota and other surrounding communities such as Epping, Alamo, Ray, Tioga, Wildrose, Williston, Zahl, Macgregor, and Grenora. Alongside the officers, the facility boasts of a fully-qualified health doctor and a nurse. Even better, the facility offers inmates mental health programs.
Williams County jail ND hosts typical misdemeanor offenders arrested by the local police department for low-level crimes such as drink driving, stealing, and domestic violence. As such, most inmates are housed here for less than one year. However, hard-crime offenders such as drug dealing, robbery, and murder are temporarily held here before they are presented before the justice system. If sentenced, they are often transferred to larger state or federal prisons.
This jail is run by the North Dakota Department of Corrections (DOC). The security is high level due to the nature of the offenders held here. As such, the correctional officers are offered high level-training and armed accordingly.
Williams County Jail Roster
Like other county facilities, Williams County Jail presents information about its inmates to the public via several authorized sites. However, the facility has a most dependable online inmate roster with a list of all inmates and their relevant details. To get information about any inmate housed here, you just enter their relevant details, often name, identification number, and, if possible, their booking date. If you cannot access the online lookup avenue, you can still find your inmate by engaging the facility’s authorities at 701-577-4585.
Inmate Visitations
Williams County Jail gives inmates visitation privileges in a bid to encourage them to keep in contact with their loved ones. The facility facilitates both onsite and video visitations according to the visitors’ convenience. However, to participate in a video visit, you have to register, and luckily, registration is free. Even better, you can register anywhere as long as you have internet connectivity. To make a video visit, you have to register on the HomeWAV website. After registration, you can then make your visit at a minimal service fee, but you have to be approved by the jail authorities before your visit. Video visits are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1 pm and 3 pm.
Onsite visits are also an ideal option if you are geographically located near the facility. This also demands visitors to seek approval via the inmates before visits. They are also accompanied by strict rules that inmates and their visitors have to follow. The visitation schedule is as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 7:30 am to 9:00 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 7:30 am to 2:30 pm
Inmate Calls
Inmates might be denied many privileges at Williams County Jail but staying in contact with their loved ones through calls is not one of them. The facility contracts Securus Technologies and HomeWAV to provide call services to inmates. Even better, while an inmate’s loved ones are not allowed to call them, they can leave brief voice messages by dialing 701-774-7956.
Inmate Care Packages and Mails
Like most other correctional facilities in North Dakota, offenders at this facility are allowed to receive certain care packages and mails from their loved ones. However, incoming packages are expected to have an inmate’s relevant details, including full name, ID number, housing unit, cell block location, SPN, and of course, a valid return address. Any package without the above is often resent to the sender.
Both incoming mails and packages are critically scanned and inspected by the jail staff to prevent the entry of illegal items. A mail sprayed with makeup, perfume, lipstick, or any other substance is never delivered to inmates but is also returned to the sender.
Inmates are permitted to receive a maximum of four magazines and two paper books in a single instance. These publications must be brand new and sourced directly from the publishers. Any package such as publications should be sent to the following address:
Inmate Full Name, Full SPN
223 East Broadway, Suite 302, Williston, ND, 58801
Mails, on the other hand, should be addressed to:
Inmate Full Name
Williams County Jail
223 East Broadway, Suite 302, Williston, ND, 58801
Both the mails and the packages should be sent only via the United States Postal Service.
